Football fans in Singapore are in for a treat this July, as the Lion city will host the inaugural Singapore Festival of Football Driven by CDG Zig from 26 July to 2 August.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side will return to Singapore Sports Hub for the second year running, and they will be joined by 2015/2016 Premier League Champions Leicester City, German giants FC Bayern Munich, alongside Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma, as announced previously.
The week-long fiesta will be opened by The Tiger Cup where Jose Mourinho’s Roma will take on his former side Spurs on 26 July. The Reds will then return to defend their Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy, presented by Standard Chartered, when they take on Leicester City on 30 July; before closing their tour in Singapore with a clash against Bayern on 2 August.
Liverpool and Spurs will hold their training sessions at the 55,000-seat National Stadium while Bayern Munich are expected to announce details of their open training session in the coming weeks.
The Reds last played in Singapore last year where they defeated Crystal Palace in front of over 50,000-strong crowd. Current Bundesliga leaders Bayern last played here in 2017 for the International Champions Cup (ICC), while Spurs’ last visit was for the 2019 edition.
Aside from the football action on the pitch, fans can also look forward to a series of entertaining offerings at the Football Fan Interactive Festival Village throughout the week, which will be open to the public. It will be home to a wide range of engagement activities as well as food and beverage options to give local and foreign fans a complete festival experience.
