This October, Singaporeans will have the opportunity once again to lace up their running shoes for a cause. The Great Green Run (GGR), presented by CIMB, returns on October 12, 2024, with the same focus on sustainability.
Building on the success of its inaugural edition, this year’s event is set to offer an even more impactful experience, featuring a redesigned route around the picturesque Marina Barrage, a two-day sustainability bazaar, and a host of activities aimed at promoting eco-conscious living.
The GGR is aligned with Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in areas like Good Health and Wellbeing, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Climate Action. Participants can choose between two distances—5km and 10km—making the event accessible to a wide range of runners, including families with young children.
What sets this run apart is its commitment to sustainable practices. All runners will receive jerseys certified by Intertek, and the finisher’s medals are made from recycled wood. Additionally, $2 from every registration will be donated to the Community Chest, supporting social service agencies across Singapore.
The accompanying Green Bazaar, running from October 12 to 13, will feature over 50 stalls offering sustainable food, vintage retail items, and interactive workshops. New partners like myhalo, a zero e-waste platform, and automotive brand Omoda, will bring added value to the event with eco-friendly initiatives and exclusive giveaways.
The event will also feature a Lucky Green Draw with prizes including flights to sustainable destinations like Finland and Bhutan, as well as Brompton bicycles—perfect for the eco-conscious traveler.
GGR 2024 promises to be more than just a run; it’s a celebration of sustainability, community, and healthy living. Registration is open until September 8, so don’t miss your chance to be part of this green movement.
