It’s the Mourinho Derby in the Lion City.
Promoters TEG Sport and Left Field Live have confirmed today (May 3) that Tottenham Hotspur will take on AS Roma in a pre-season friendly at the National Stadium at Singapore Sports Hub.
Familiar face
The stage is set for a reunion with Roma’s manager, Jose Mourinho looking to face his former side.
The match will be played on July 26, Wednesday at 7.30PM as part of both team’s pre-season tour. The North London side will kick-off their pre-season Asia Pacific Tour against West Ham in Perth on July 18, before travelling to Singapore. While the Serie A outfit will begin their Asia tour starting from Singapore, before heading to South Korea for their remaining fixtures.
Last time out
Tottenham Hotspur last visited Singapore in 2019 where Harry Kane’s stoppage time goal in a 3-2 win
over Juventus delighted the near-capacity crowd in the International Champions Cup (ICC).
However, the Premier League side has struggled for form this season and is currently without a permanent full-time manager, after sacking Antonio Conte and interim boss Cristian Stellini.
Meanwhile AS Roma are still in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League qualification spot next year and are also in the semis for this season’s Europa League.
Treat for local fans
According to the press release, fans can expect plenty of opportunities for interaction with the club, as they are expected to have an open pre-match training session on July 25. Players and staff will also be engaging in a range of activities with the Club’s fanbase, support good causes, deliver grassroots football programmes and celebrate local culture.
Singapore fans can look forward to players from both teams, which include South Korean star – Son Heung-min, English forward – Harry Kane, Argentinian World Cup winner Paulo Dybala and former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham amongst others.
Tickets for both Tottenham’s open training session and the match will go on sale via Ticketek from May 8, at 10am.
